Rugby Legends: The Spirit of the Black Jersey

Te Papa is the most sought after international tourist attraction in Wellington and as such is a great entertainment option for visiting Lions fans and locals to enhance their experience of the tour. Due to the special nature of the Lions tour and its frequency in New Zealand it is a great opportunity to promote and highlight rugby within an exhibition context particularly as 2017 is the centennial year of the death in action of Dave Gallaher, the Captain of the ‘Original’ All Blacks team which toured the [then] United Kingdom in 1905 and who died during the Battle of Passchendaele.

Te Papa wishes to support Rugby Legends: The Spirit of the Black Jersey with the acclaimed Gallipoli exhibition for fans to easily enjoy both experiences and so the location for is on level 3 of the Museum overlooking the Gallipoli exhibit linking between the WW1 centennial programme by commemorating Dave Gallaher and the 12 other All Blacks who died in WW1.

Te Papa invites Lions fans, travellers and locals to come and enjoy our special place and we look forward to hosting you to over your time in New Zealand.
