Home Nations Village @ O’Hagan’s Irish Bar

Our aim is to create a festival feel around game days. We wish to extend the area outside the front of O’Hagan’s on Eden Park games to make it the “Home Nations Village” – a place where people can come to enjoy the carnival feel when the games in town. People arriving from overseas as well as the ex pat community and Kiwi rugby fans will use O’Hagans as a place to meet to enjoy the games and celebrate the Lions Tour. We will marquee off the extended area, have extra TVs around to show all the sporting action with extra audio equipment to broadcast the commentary live. Outside of the build up and game day we will show replays of previous Lions tours to get the crowd excited. On Game day we plan to put on music through the day (a total of 4 hours – including breaks), face painters. We wish to extend the area on the following dates:

  • v All Blacks 1st Test – 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th June
  • v All Blacks 3rd Test – 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th July

The event will start at 8am on all days to coincide with our current license. A Full Breakfast menu will run till 11am. Just after 11am we will switch to our main menu for the day and in addition offer an additional selection of themed meals, as well as a BBQ option. The BBQ will most likely consist of the option of Beef/ Cheese burgers and Hot dogs. Themed meals are likely to include, Roast of the day, Irish stews and even Haggis. These meals will be on offer all day till around 10pm at which time we will revert to a reduced menu for the duration of the day.

We will have marquee’s covering the event in case of bad weather, which is quite likely due to the time of the year the tour is.
